How Do We Calculate Calories Burned?
The short answer: Calories burned walking depends primarily on your body weight, the distance covered, and your walking pace (MET value).
Our calculator uses the scientifically backed MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula:
- MET Value: 2.5 for a slow walk, 3.5 for a moderate pace, and up to 5.0 for a very fast power walk.
- Formula:
Calories = MET × Weight (kg) × Duration (hours) - Step Length: Estimated based on your height to convert steps into total distance and duration.
